What is Wrong?

Ankle Sprain

If you have had an acute or multiple chronic ankle sprains, you have likely lost some of your ability to react quickly. Completing a formal rehabilitation program is often very helpful to reduce the risk of re-injury.

Heel Pain

Pain in the arch or directly on the heel bone often occurs during growth spurts (Sever’s Disease) or in mid-life (plantar fasciitis) due to a new activity or to repetitive standing, walking or running.

Tendonitis

Pain often develops in the tendons of the ankle with overuse. This can be from a change in activity, change in shoes, or simply due to the structure of your foot.

Surgery

Your therapist will help guide you through your rehabilitation program based on their experience and from advice from your surgeon. This team approach ensures close communication and yields the best results in the end.

Walk Away from Foot Pain

There are several different treatment options available when dealing with foot and ankle pain that are individualized to your specific needs. Without proper rehabilitation problems can easily return over and over again.

Some of the treatments we offer when determining the best rehabilitation program for you include:

  • Joint mobilizations to help reduce joint stiffness and improve your ability to go up and down stairs or squat down
  • Soft tissue mobilization (similar to deep tissue massage) improves ankle mobility that is restricted by muscles and fascia
  • Shoe modifications can reduce pain with every step you take
  • Orthotic evaluations can be beneficial if a shoe is not helpful enough in changing your pain
  • Stretching  and strengthening exercises can help restore movement you have lost during your injury
  • Agility and balance exercises help you return to walking on uneven surfaces, exercising, running or playing sports again

If you are unsure if physical therapy can help your foot pain, schedule a free screening appointment and have one of our foot and ankle specialists assess your problem and answer your questions. If therapy is not right for your foot or ankle problem, we can help get you to a practitioner who can help.
