Program Mission

The ActivePT Orthopedic Residency will provide an up to date evidence-based education to orthopedic physical therapists that will advance clinical knowledge, skills, affective behaviors, research knowledge, and professionalism. The residency program will develop Orthopaedic Specialists who will provide enhanced physical therapy care to the community we serve. The program will promote practices of continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.

Program Specifics

  • Full time, 12 month program
  • Program starts each year in July
  • 1500 hours+ clinical practice hours
  • 150+ mentorship hours with highly qualified, Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist PTs
  • Additional training includes mentorship sessions with Fellows of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist (FAAOMPT)
  • The curriculum includes travel to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles three times for Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) content education
  • Didactic and lab content focuses on high level clinical reasoning, manual therapy, progressive loading, and private practice operations and leadership
  • The $12,000 Residency Program tuition is covered by ActivePT.  Tuition covers residency expenses associated with on-site education, off-site continuing education courses, University of Southern California Curriculum, and associated travel expenses.

ActivePT Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency

The application will be available each year in October. The applications will be addressed on a rolling basis. All applications must be submitted through the ActivePT application link.
