Job Shadow – PT or PTA
Start Your Journey in Physical Therapy
Are you considering a career as a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant? Most PT and PTA programs require observation (shadowing) hours as part of the application process — and ActivePT & Sports is here to help you get started! Our mission is to make people better, both our team members and the people we care for in the community. That includes future PTs and PTAs. Our Job Shadow Program provides a look into the day-to-day life of a physical therapist in a fast-paced, patient-centered outpatient clinic.
What You’ll Experience
- Observe licensed Physical Therapists and PTAs during patient care
- Learn how treatment plans are developed and progressed
- Gain exposure to a variety of conditions (orthopedic, sports injuries, post-operative care, and more)
- Understand clinic flow, documentation, and patient interactions
- Experience a team-based, collaborative healthcare environment
Requirements
- College or high school student interested in or planning to apply to a PT or PTA program
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign a notice of privacy practice (HIPAA)
- Professional clothing – “business casual” dress code (no tennis shoes, yoga pants, sweatshirts, jeans, low-cut or excessively tight clothing, etc). Students who arrive in unprofessional dress will be asked to reschedule their job shadow experience
