Valerie Szefler, DPT, earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Daemen University in 2026, after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Natural Health Science with a minor in Biology at the same institution in 2024. Valerie joined the ActivePT team in 2026.
Valerie is passionate about helping patients manage back, neck, and knee pain, as well as providing effective rehabilitation following surgery. By utilizing a hands-on manual approach in conjunction with personalized exercise programs, she empowers her patients to move with greater confidence and less pain, helping them return to the activities they enjoy most.
Her treatment philosophy centers on deep listening; she believes that understanding each patient’s unique story is essential to effective care. Valerie treats with the three pillars of ActivePT—patient experience, therapist experience, and research—ensuring that treatment plans are tailored roadmaps to recovery rather than just a packet of exercises. She has completed Parts A and B of the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).
Outside of the clinic, Valerie lives in Rochester and enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring new restaurants, traveling, and making the most of quality time with her family and friends.
